"Therapy By Design" - Implications of architecture for human behavior (1965)
This text describes one of the first research projects to study the effect of architectural environment on human behavior. The project question was
"how can present day psychiatric wards be architecturally modified to make them congruent with other modern forms of treatments given to mentally ill patients?"
To answer this, psychiatric principles were translated into psychological variables then into architectural design rationales, and finally into tentative architectural plans.
